With a cloud VPS server, the client rents all the necessary computational resources (CPU, RAM, storage). In essence, it’s a cloud service for VM creation accessed through a web interface, command line, or API. This approach allows IT professionals to use secure and scalable computing resources in the cloud for resource-intensive operations. Using the web interface, you get quick access to computing resources, speeding up the setup and launch process.
A VPS is a server configured to host multiple server instances, while a VDS instance takes up the entire server. From the user’s perspective, there’s hardly a difference. Both options are often provided as a whole: a VPD / VDS hosting service.
You can choose the type and amount of computational resources you need (CPU, RAM, storage), select a required OS, and set other parameters. The cloud provider will guarantee you will have them when needed.
The main differences are the absence of restrictions on the number of sites, databases, memory, and mailboxes, as well as the guaranteed resources provided on request.
On a regular server, a client’s application may consume excessive resources, causing shortages for other clients. This won’t happen on a virtual server, as your site or application will always receive as many resources as it needs for its operation.

BEST, money transfer and payments operator
The customer faced a technical issue with a persistent BGP session flag with Linxdatacenter hardware. We examined the problem and found out that one of customer’s hosts was under a DDoS attack.
Because of the distributed nature of the attack, traffic couldn’t be filtered effectively, and disconnecting the host from the external network wasn’t an option. The attack stopped after changes in the server configuration, but resumed the day after. A 5.5 Gbps attack overloaded the junctions with internet providers, affecting other Linx Cloud users. To mitigate the effects of the attack, we employed a dedicated DDoS protection service.
To ensure the continuous availability of resources hosted in Linx Cloud, we rerouted all the customer’s traffic through StormWall Anti-DDoS system. The attack was stopped within half an hour. To prevent future cyberattacks, we organized all connections to the customer’s resources through the StormWall network.
